Getting married might be easy, but sustaining that marriage is a colossal challenge. And like every relationship, it needs more than one person to make it successful. While our husbands do have an exhaustive list of responsibilities, we women too have our share. And like men, there are also several things that every married woman must avoid doing.
So, here they are!
1. Treat him like a child
No, you guys didn’t have a child marriage, right? So, why treat him like one?
Ladies, this might quite hit it, but treating your husband like a child can actually tamper your relation. Some of us, with our entire schedule, often to a certain extent try mothering our hubbies. But no, ladies that’s not how it works!
The only way to bring out what’s best in him is to RESPECT him. Genuine respect can actually do wonders in your marriage. Not only it strengthens your foundation of trust, but it also refines the mutual love between you two. Remember, your hubby already has a mother. He just needs and desires for a loving wife.
2. Expecting him to telepath you
You just married a human, not a superhero, then why expect so! Yes, there are certain basic feelings, that as a human at least, your hubby needs to understand. But don’t go overboard. Men are prone to direct communication than picking up non-verbal cues. Don’t be angry if he doesn’t understand or know something. Be direct and clearly communicate. Not only will he appreciate it but it will also save both of you from loads of frustrations.
3. Posting every life update on social media
The latest foe of marriage in this technical age and definitely one of things every married woman must avoid- social media! Yes, we almost never miss a chance to share anything online. From our first hangout to our first child, you can literally find everything about everyone. However, overloading with almost every update or life event is something that every married woman must avoid doing. This can eventually pose detrimental effects on your marriage. Keep your private affairs to yourself. Instead, try building a more concrete relationship with your husband in real life.
4. Nagging or speaking negative of your husband
Believe it or not, but your tone of speaking with your husband can actually shape the future of your marriage. Ladies, NEVER, EVER, speak anything ill or negative regarding anything about your husband. This, however, doesn’t mean that you should stay mum when he does something wrong. Correcting him is, after all, your job. But, do that with genuine respect and in private. The more you nag him, the more he shall feel that he’s not living up to his wife’s expectations. Don’t EVER let that happen.
5. Being more a “mom” than a “wife”
Yes, motherhood is definitely a sacred and a blessed role to play. But that doesn’t mean prioritizing your kids over your husband. The moment you do that, you are in fact, hurting your marriage. Instead, show your kids how love works in marriage and how spouses should be treated. Remember, an empty marriage can never build a happy nest.
6. Stop expecting him to always apologize
Not exactly true with all marriages, but this is indeed one of the basic threats. If you are at fault, it’s ALWAYS your duty for the call of action. Period. A healthy marriage is always built where both the spouses are humble to apologise and ask for a humble forgiveness.
7. Prioritizing your BFFs over your husband
No, we don’t mean to break your friendship and rift you girls apart. What we mean is to make your husband as your bestie. Don’t depend on others as your primary source of social and emotional comfort when you already have one back at home. Never give your partner the leftovers. Get more candid and improve your friendship in your marriage. This can seriously go a long way for your marriage.
8. Hiding secrets
Trust is always the basic foundation of every marriage. And the only enemy is secrets. Holding secrets is yet a major thing that every married woman must avoid doing. ALWAYS. Your honesty level can actually determine the intimacy that you two hold. If you do find yourself doing anything that needs to be hidden, you are already danger-zoned. Instead of facing such situation, try building more transparency.
Love, trust, respect and forgive! That’s it!
