“What’s the secret behind your glow?” My friend asked me once on FB. To which I commented, “I won’t say!”
AND, I MEANT THAT!
I’m not going to fake it, but before I had my little angel, I indeed had a clear glowing skin. (Of course, I don’t regret my dark circles that I have now. I actually love them.) And trust me, I relied least on beauty products or any beauty treatments.
Cosmetics do have the power of transforming your entire look. But, let’s admit it, only a healthy skin can help you unmask the real beauty in you, instead of covering it up with layers.
Yes, in this post I decided to help you get a clear glowing skin with some of the easiest and simplest natural beauty tips.
Disclaimer- Kindly note that every skin is different. Just because some natural beauty tips can work for me, doesn’t necessarily mean that it would work perfectly for other skin types as well. Neither this blog nor the writer take any kind of responsibility for any kind of unwanted consequences, thus resulted in these tips.
1. Tomatoes for fairness
My doctor once recommended me and I was so glad she did it! Comprising of natural bleaching properties and being a natural astringent, tomatoes can be your skin’s best friend. They help in shrinking your pores, remove blackheads, reduce your skin’s oil secretion, fight acne, remove your tan, fight wrinkles, treat dark circles and freshen your skin. Who would have thought that they have such power!
Apply the juice of red tomatoes and apply directly on your face. Or, you can also make use of a tomato slice and rub them on your face. Once, your skin gets dried, wash it up with plain water.
Its regular usage can seriously help you get that much craved glowing skin!
2. “Banana-egg” for hair shine
Apart from being extremely useful for cakes (yum!), combining bananas and eggs can be also great for your skin. Replete with multiple antioxidants and Vitamin C, the combination can easily turn dry, dull and damaged hair to beautiful shining tresses.
Make a generous paste of two mashed bananas and 1 egg. Apply it to your hair and leave the hair mask for around 15-30 minutes. Finally, give your hair a regular washing ritual in the shower.
Voila! Moisture replete shining tresses within few minutes!
3. Deep hair conditioning with coconut oil
One of my personal favourites and probably one of the most reliable natural beauty tips ever! Replete with fatty acids, coconut oil helps nourishing and moisturizing, both, your hair and scalp. Trusted by “dadis” and “nanis”, applying coconut oil prior to shampooing can incredibly turn even the dullest hair into softest strands ever.
Massage coconut oil generously into your scalp, working it all through your hair. Let it stay for few hours. Finally, wash your hair with your shampoo. No requirement of conditioner unless you have really long hair. In case, you do use, apply the conditioner on your hair ends.
4. Oranges for glowing skin
Getting rid of dry, sticky and oily skin can be such a tedious job! You may keep switching your face wash from one brand to the other but may eventually fail. Thanks to orange juice that can easily give your skin a natural cure and shine.
Enriched with Vitamin C, oranges help reducing free radicals, thus promoting skin freshness. They also help you with skin swelling, reducing clogged pores and preventing your skin from acne, pimples, fine lines and wrinkles.
Extract the orange juice and directly apply to your skin. Let it sit for around 2-3 minutes, followed by a wash with a plain water.
For better health benefits, try consuming the orange juice on a regular basis. This can help in warding off multiple health and skin problems like blood pressure, bad cholesterol, ageing signs and wrinkles. Yes, that’s just another reason why I love orange juice!
5. Apple Cider Vinegar for armpits
Sweaty and stained armpits can be such a turnoff! You can’t raise your arms easily nor can you wear a sleeveless dress. Enriched with amino acids, antibacterial, antiseptic and astringent properties, apple cider vinegar can actually do wonders for your underarms.
Dab a cotton pad on organic apple cider vinegar and apply it directly on your armpits. Don’t wash. Just leave it as it is till it dries up and wear your clothes just like you do it daily. For quicker and best results, repeat this procedure daily.
6. Cucumber for dark circles
Who doesn’t hate dark circles! Yet another one of the most classic natural beauty tips ever, cucumber can easily lighten those unsightly dark circles. All thanks to its multiple antioxidants and Vitamins including C and K.
Cold cucumber slices work best as the cool temperature helps in reducing that unwanted puffiness and swelling. Apply cold cucumber slices or juice directly on your dark circles. Let it sit for around 20 minutes followed by a plain washing.
Repeat this process on a regular basis for removing dark circles, blemishes, acne and, even, wrinkles.
7. Honey for chapped lips
Dry, chapped lips can be so troublesome for almost every event. Get rid of them with just honey and petroleum jelly. While the latter helps moisturizing and nourishing your lips, honey helps them based on its antibacterial properties, thus helping them stay healthy.
Apply a film of honey on your lips, followed by another layer of petroleum jelly. Leave the combo for around 10-15 minutes. Finally, wipe it off by using a damp cloth or a wet tissue.
8. Steaming as facial
Don’t miss the opportunity to give your skin a radiant glow when your milk or water is getting boiled. Yes, moderate steaming helps in softening your skin, removing the impurities, dirt and bacteria from your pores and cleanse it.
Remove your makeup and wash your face while the steam gets built up. NO exfoliation as that can cause skin irritation with the steam facial. Pat your skin dry.
Finally, hold yourself against the steam. Grab a towel and lock yourself in it for around 10 minutes. Close your eyes and let the heat open your pores.
9. Dry brushing for skin
Yes, just a simple dry brushing can help with detoxification. It helps in eliminating dead skin, cellulite, tightening your skin and stimulating your hormones. And it’s super easy and really cheap!
And my favourite! Even if you follow all the aforementioned natural beauty tips, you would fail if your system is not hydrated enough. Water helps your body get rid of toxins that is the major cause of most of the skin and health problems. Drinking abundant water can also help in preventing those unwanted saggy skin.
Drink at least 8-10 glasses of plain water everyday. Avoid the intake of hot beverages like tea and coffee before consuming water as that can interrupt with the end results.
Adding to all these natural beauty tips, don’t forget to include physical exercises, avoid junk food, reduce alcohol intake, reduce stress and most importantly, include a healthy nutritious diet. Don’t forget you can only look beautiful when you feel beautiful!
